So I asked this on Facebook and then realised it might be better here.

The "Territories of Dremlin" section of the rulebook has a "Technology" field in the different territories data sections, like Military and Magic.

I was curious what this implies. Kalona and Laythren have an Average level of technology, whereas certain other areas have Advanced.

Would "Advanced" just mean they have better engineers in general than "Average" areas, or do they just tend towards more advanced technologies in a more direct sense than the engineering tables, like Crossbows over Longbows, and sappers over battering rams?

It doesn't seem to be a Magic versus Technology split, since Harrowgate is listed as advanced in both areas.

PS: Just reread the section, and Epertoch is listed as Low, like the Wastes and Razor's Valley. This may be relevant information.

Technology ratings in the rule book reflects use of things like more advanced engineering and alchemy, and also the sophistication and size of settlements. Low technology would represent a mostly agricultural society with few cities and no especially large ones, limited seafaring capability and siege technology, reduced industrial activity like mining/refineries or other crafts requiring educated skills, and skilled trades like advanced alchemy and engineering being more rare.
