So I'm making myself some fist reps to use and I'm trying to think if there are any other acceptable reps other than the small tube of foam. Especially since if I want to take someone's weapon I need to drop the tube, take their weapon, retrieve tube later, use a leash around my wrist, etc.

What other styles of first reps have been used? Boffer brass knuckles? What about a pair of complete foam sparring gloves (like these that are not full boxing glove styled http://www.centurymartialarts.com/sparr ... _1153.aspx ) covered with another layer of bagged open cell foam like a striking surface?

I'm just looking for other creative ways to rep hand to hand stuff.

You can always add a strap to the fist rep so that when you drop it, it just hangs off your wrist.

Noted in my original post (I just said leash instead of strap. May or may not be because I completely forgot the word strap existed) and will be doing for the basic reps, I just want to do MORE, you know? Something that stands out or gives people more options that are still safe besides a small pointy red tube.

Oh my bad! Sorry! I apparently missed that when reading.

I've seen boffer knuckles being done, though it has to be a lot wider and pretty thick. It's still easy to accidentally punch someone with them, having the boffer accidentally slip down, or just a little too much force accidentally being used with all the excitement that comes with combat.

The trouble with more fist shaped boffers is that it actually becomes easier to physically punch people and with the heat of the moment you may use more force with a clenched fist.

Hmm, well with the specific sparring gloves I have you can't make a fist without exerting a lot of pressure, since it was intended for low-contact open handed jujitsu sparring (gotta use dem throws!). I'll make what I have in mind and see what plot thinks in person at the event. Worst comes to worst I can't use them and have wands I can use anyways.
